Elevate Radio Broadcast Training

Elevate Radio Broadcast Training
Elevate Radio is a unique broadcast training program for people aged 18–30 who live, work
or study in Adelaide’s eastern suburbs. Delivered by Three D Radio in partnership with the
City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters, the program provides young people with hands-on
experience in community broadcasting while developing skills that can open doors to
creative, media and communication industries.
Participants begin with a compulsory training session that introduces the essentials of radio
broadcasting, from using the studio equipment and presenting on air, to preparing playlists,
interviewing guests and understanding how community radio works behind the scenes. After
training, the Elevate Radio team produces and presents a live weekly program every
Thursday from 4.00pm – 5.00pm on Three D Radio, giving participants real experience in
live broadcasting.
Beyond radio skills, Elevate Radio helps participants build confidence, creativity and
professional networks. Past participants consistently highlight the impact the program has
had on their personal and creative development. Hayden Dale described the experience as
“epic,” saying it gave him “confidence and courage to do things I couldn’t have dreamed of,
like being on radio and interviewing musicians.” Zoe Goldfinch said the program “opened up
a new world of opportunities,” helping her build industry connections and strengthen her
marketing and broadcasting skills. Ian Zinchiri reflected on the sense of community created
through the program, describing it as “ground-breaking” and a place where young creatives
could grow, collaborate and feel supported.
Elevate Radio continues to create opportunities for emerging voices in Adelaide while
strengthening the connection between young people, community media and the city’s vibrant
music culture.
Here’s what our previous applicants have to say about the programme
“Getting involved in the Elevate Radio program has been epic, it’s so great that the
council supports youth programs like this and others because it shows that they are
truly interested in their youth and community! Something like this is hard to come by
and I am so thankful as this program has given me confidence and courage to do
things, I couldn’t have dreamed of like being on radio… or interviewing musicians
and many other self-management skills I get to take with me through life” – Hayden Dale
“The Elevate Radio program at Three D Radio has opened up a new world of
opportunities for me. I have been able to network with music industry professionals,
experience in-depth on-air radio training and build upon my marketing skills. The
Council allows these programs to exist to empower and drive young people like
myself” – Zoe Goldfinch
